Joanna Kerr is a content creator whose speciality is working in that interesting space where talent traverses the line to become the story.
Drawing on her early experience in production both in America and Australia, and mixing that with her most recent work at Channel 7 as the in-house Casting Director, she is continuing her passion for packaging commercial projects.
She understands the importance of great stories and the talent to tell them as well as production from both sides, that of the program itself but just as importantly from the buyer’s need.
After working in London and Monaco in the Format trade business Joanna moved to Los Angeles and graduated with a degree in Film & Television production just in time to join the fray of unscripted reality series that were taking over the airwaves.
Returning to Australia in 2005 Joanna got to work casting and producing some of the biggest international formats for the Australian market, The Biggest Loser, The Amazing Race, Beauty and the Geek, Australia’s Got Talent, So You Think You Can Dance, Wipeout and Dancing with the Stars.
Turning her creative eye to content development Joanna worked with the team at Seven to launch original series in all genres of Television. During her time at Seven, The Amazing Race Australia won an International Emmy and her discovery of Adam Doville, led to a best newcomer Logie Award.
With a passion for short form models and an eye for matching great stories with cut through talent Joanna joins David in founding Whale Beach Productions to bring fresh content in all it’s forms from Australia around the globe and back again.
DAVID LYLE
Adviser
David Lyle created, produced, bought, sold, and distributed TV content around the world as well as running a few TV channels along the way. David acted in an advisory capacity to Whale Beach Productions during it’s inception and first years of operation before his passing in September 2017.
David helped guide and shape the principles of Whale Beach Productions. He had a keen eye for talent, a passion for the creative as well as the business side of Television. These principals continue to guide Whale Beach Productions today and into the future.
